Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The track features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
