Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
