Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official commented the incident made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
